How to Clean Ceramic Glass and Halogen Induction Hobs

Ceramic, Glass and Halogen Induction hobs are easy to clean and maintain if the correct products are used. The glass top on a ceramic hob can appear worn over time with burnt on stains and spills.

You should be a bit careful about the cleaners you use. We would recommend steering clear of abrasive cleaners such as cif, biocarbonate soda mixes and brillo pads for this job. Abrasive cleaners can create lots of tiny scratches in the surface of your glass hob that can make it appear dull over time.

You can make your hob clean in 3 easy steps:

1. Scrape off any burnt on food using a ceramic hob scraper. Be careful when using this tool, it’s very effective but also very sharp. Use the scraper at a shallow angle with smooth strokes and avoid stabbing or chipping at the surface.

2. Once you’ve cleared the glass top of burnt food items it’s time to remove the water and other marks. Make sure your hob is cold before you start cleaning. Pour a small amount of cleaning fluid on the hob and use the cleaning cloth or kitchen paper to clean. This can be done simply with a good specialist Ceramic Hob Cleaning Product.

3. You can then use a product to provide a protective barrier once cleaned.

To make your hob easier to clean and maintain, when you are finished cooking on a ceramic hob, all you have to do is wipe it clean with a damp cotton cloth. When the hob is cleaned when still warm from the cooking, it cleans faster and better. Be careful to use a soft cotton cloth to clean the hob and not a scrub that will scratch its delicate surface.
