HG Hagesan Silver Immersion Bath is a product for cleaning dull or blackened silver and silver-plated articles without the need for polishing. HG Silver Immersion Bath is especially suitable for large silver articles such as trays and candelabras or articles with lots of decorative details and seams which cannot be reached by means of traditional polishing.

HG Hagesan Silver Immersion Bath - Instructions

Requirements:

+ A plastic or glass container or basin (e.g. a bucket or wash tub). Ensure that the container is large enough and deep enough for the object to be treated. Do not use a metal container.

+ One satchet of HG Silver Immersion Bath activating powder per 3 litres of water.

+ The HG Silver Immersion Bath metal reaction plate (included)

Pre-treatment: In the past most silver objects were maintained using an oil based polishing agent that left a greasy deposit behind. This greasy deposit hinders the action of HG Silver Immersion Bath. Therefore clean the object with hot, soapy water until dirt, grease deposits, old silver remnants, nicotine deposits and candle wax has been removed. Use a soft brush to remove grease deposits on raised and indented areas.

Afterwards dry the sliver thoroughly. If necessary remove protective layers such as HG Silver and Copper Polish No More with acetone.

Instructions for Use:

+ Use one satchet of HG Silver Immersion Bath 'activating powder' per 3 litres of water. Ensure that there is enough water in the container so that the entire object can be immersed.

Use water at approx. 70 ºC (2 parts boiling water to one part lukewarm water). Dissolve the contents of the HG Silver Immersion Bath satchet(s) in the hot water. Ensure that the powder dissolves by stirring. Place the metal reaction plate into the container.

+ Place the object to be treated in the container so that it touches the metal plate in at least one spot. Ensure that when there is more than one object in the bath that all objects touch the metal plate or are in contact with one object that is touching the metal plate.

+ After approx. 30 seconds take the objects out of the container. Caution: DO NOT exceed the treatment time.

+ Rinse off the object treated in the HG Silver Immersion Bath thoroughly with warm water and dry. If there are still deposits, repeat the treatment (immersion).

+ Buff with a soft cloth until a high shine appears, preferably with a HG Silver Shine Cloth.

+ If blackened objects appear no cleaner, the black layer should be removed from a small area of the object by rubbing if firmly. Then repeat the treatment with HG Silver Immersion Bath, ensuring that the 'cleaned' surface is in contact with the metal plate.

+ After treatment, take the metal reaction plate out of the water before the water has cooled and remove the deposits with soap. Dry the plate and store in its packaging.

Apart from cutlery and crockery that comes into contact with food, the resulting shine after using HG Silver Immersion Bath can, if necessary, be protected with HG Silver and Copper Polish No More.

Attention: HG Silver Immersion Bath does not achieve an optimum result when used on some (silver) alloys.
